Sustainability

For us, sustainability is about using resources efficiently. Not wasting. Not throwing away. Buying locally as much as possible, so that raw materials are not transported far. Avoiding additives and preservatives. To recycle. To reuse.

Sustainability is also about seeking out and sourcing food from nature. Picking wild plants, mushrooms and berries, instead of buying them from far away. Nettles from the forest nearby, instead of plastic-packaged imported spinach. You can't do everything, but you can at least try to do something.

Finding local producers and farms nearby and seeing what you can buy there to support local farmers instead of buying everything at the supermarket. Eggs, flour, cheeses, sausages, vegetables. Many things can be found organically and locally.

Through several collaborations, such as Visit Dalarna and Taste of Dalarna, Elles Utemat is active in networks that promote local production and food crafts. When we organize events in different parts of the country, we strive to find local producers from Skåne to Norrland and buy local ingredients for cooking. We also teach knowledge about the forest pantry, hunting and processing of raw materials that promote more sustainable food consumption.

In 2022, Elles Utemat will undergo the Nature's Best® certification through Naturturismföretagen to further deepen the implementation of sustainable tourism and business development. Nature's Best® is Sweden's only sustainability label for nature-based experiences. It serves both as a systematic tool for the sustainable business development of nature and cultural tourism companies as well as a quality label that makes sustainable experiences visible to conscious travelers.
