Forest Camp is an off-grid camp without electricity and running water. This is how many people in Sweden lived just 150 years ago, today many are uncomfortable with the idea of not having the comforts of running water and electricity. While Swedes have become comfortable, we are constantly reminded of the importance of home preparedness - having a plan for how to cope without society's help if a crisis comes. Forest Camp can therefore offer some a taste of the disconnected and relaxing life.

Utan rinnande vatten, i modern bemärkelse, njuter vi istället av obegränsat med rinnande fjällvatten i bäcken intill Camp. Här hämtar vi friskt dricksvatten som kommer ner direkt från Vedungsfjället. Detta vatten använder vi till allt från matlagning till tvagning. Endast biologiskt nedbrytbara rengöringsprodukter används i Forest Camp och vi tillhandahåller dessa för våra gäster om de inte har med sig det själva. Toalett finns i form av utedass och tvätta sig gör man utomhus i bäcken eller i samband med bad i Forest Spa.

För att kunna hålla kontakt med omvärlden och ladda diverse lampor och batterier, finns det batterier och powerbanks som laddas av solceller.

Elles Utemat works mainly with local suppliers of artisanal products in Dalarna through the Taste of Dalarna network, but also with small-scale producers in the rest of the country. This means that meals at Camp are dominated by delicacies such as game meat and exciting artisanal cheeses from the region. Much of the food here is also based on the forest pantry - wild picked mushrooms, berries and herbs. You can try everything from roasted capercaillie, bear meatballs and reindeer entrecote to salted rice, freshly picked cloudberries and maybe even a dish with the world's most expensive edible mushroom - the Goliath mushroom.
